We conceive, develop and realize model based mechatronic system test benches for the simulation based testing of vehicle systems, components and electronic control units. The main idea of these turn-key solutions is to integrate real vehicle systems such as active suspension elements, steering systems, drive trains or tires in the virtual vehicle of one of our simulation solutions CarMaker, MotorcycleMaker or TruckMaker. The vehicle components are connected to the HIL system by appropriate actuators and sensors with a specific test bench setup, and exchange "in the loop" the actual physical vehicle quantities with the real-time simulation. Additional ECUs can also be connected to the HIL simulator or their functionality can be integrated as a model into the simulation environment. Thus the vehicle and control systems are tested under realistic and reproducible conditions. A virtual driver controls the vehicle e.g. over three-dimensional test tracks in simulated freeway traffic or performs maneuvers like µ-split braking, wet handling or ISO lane changing. All test systems from IPG are based on our Flex4Net system environment. Using an existing Ethernet they can arbitrarily be extended to a HIL network system.
